The purpose of the Cherokee Cultural Society of Houston is to build Community, to preserve
Cherokee heritage, to perpetuate the Cherokee Culture and to build the future of our people. |
|
Who We Are |
In most Eastern Native American cultures, the people would use this time to harvest crops
. This also was the time many tribes would all be planning the big feast for giving of "Thanks".
These festivals were to celebrate a bountiful harvest and to give thanks to the Creator for all his provisions for that year.

Currently CCS is inactive in all CCS functions. It has been extremely hard to schedule events with little participations from members. The Board Members have been concentrating on school and business presentations. This enables us to visit schools and business' and give a brief presentation on the heritage, culture and history of the Cherokee. If you would like to schedule a presentation, just send us an email or phone call. If you would like to participate in a demonstration or presentation, just email or give us a phone call
|
| Hurricane Ike did some extreme damage to the stomp grounds. New calendars have been posted! If you would like to post to our calander just email us or give us a call. All postings must be Native American related. Please provide place, date, time and a contact name, contact number and/or website for the event. The best information is the best way to spread the information. Please allow at least 2 weeks for postings to be posted to the calendars.
